Artist Statement

My work explores colour, light, and connection through richly textured oil paintings created entirely with a palette knife. Layers of thick impasto build rhythm and movement, allowing each mark to retain its own presence while contributing to the whole.

Rather than depicting a specific landscape or subject, my paintings invite viewers to experience moments of emergence, gathering, stillness, and energy. Inspired by the natural world—water, gardens, changing light, and the horizon—they are intended to evoke a feeling rather than tell a story.

I am drawn to the physicality of oil paint. The sculptural surface catches light and changes throughout the day, creating a different experience as the viewer moves around the work.

Each painting is created intuitively in my studio in Ontario, where I continue to explore the expressive possibilities of colour, texture, and form.
